About the Museum

The museum, designed by Eva Penamora in collaboration with the architect Honrado Fernandez in 1996, was completed and inaugurated in 1999. Initiated by the non-profit Kaisa Para sa Kaunlaran, Inc., co-founded by Teresita Ang-See, the project aimed to foster patriotism and cultural understanding between Filipino and Chinese communities, following the success of the bilingual children’s TV program Pinpin in the early 1990s.

Funded initially by the Angelo King Foundation, the museum was later supported by donations from various Filipino-Chinese sectors, from business tycoons to wage earners.

The museum features sections on early Chinese-Filipino interactions, colonial culture, national leaders of Chinese descent, and contributions to nation-building, among others. It is fully air-conditioned and housed in the Kaisa-Angelo King Heritage Center, which also includes Kaisa Para sa Kaunlaran, Inc.’s office, a library, an auditorium, seminar rooms, and exhibition halls.
